September is national Prostate Cancer Awareness Month! On Friday, September 7th, 2012 the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Chicago will be holding their annual Free Prostate Cancer Screening, which includes a PSA (prostate specific antigen) blood test, and a DRE (digital rectal exam). The DRE will be performed by a specialized physician, who can also answer questions regarding urinary complications or other prostate concerns. The appointment takes approximately 30 minutes which will consist of a question and answer session, along with a PSA blood draw and a DRE, concluding the appointment with the patient’s results of the tests.
