Female Friday Funday Float Ladies 2016 Mackinaw River

Female Friday Funday Float supports Prostate Cancer Foundation of Chicago- 2016

6th Annual Female Friday Funday Float July 12, 2019

Many thanks to Kim Williams for creating and organizing this fun to raise prostate cancer awareness and support for PCFC programs!

Here it is ladies!!! If you missed it last year then make plans to join us this year.  This all girls float trip in the Peoria area is a blast!  This is a charity event to raise money for prostate cancer research and again this year we will be raising money for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Chicago.

Your T-shirt is your entry fee

We are doing the T-shirt sales different this year.   Link to JC Screenprinting and order your womens style shirt there. The shirt is your entry fee so YOU MUST BUY ONE to join. You can put your team name or whatever you want on the back on that site. This years theme encourages the guys to get their prostate checked…its “BOTTOMS UP FOR THE BOYS”.   Another change is that you can have it shipped to you, pick it up in Goodfield at JC Screenprinting or just pick it up the day of the float at the Legion. I won’t be handing out the shirts this year. If you decide to go at the last minute and haven’t ordered a shirt, you can still go but you will have to pay the $20 and we may or may not have extra shirts for you.  There are also mens T-shirts available on the site if any men want one.

 Koozie fundraising

We really want to raise the level of donations this year so we are asking that everyone collects at least $50 to be turned in the day of the float. We are making koozies for you to sell this year to help you raise money..YEAH! On the T-shirt link, you can buy a pack of 10 or 20 and sell them for whatever amount you want to help you get your $50+ donation. So you can buy 20 koozies, sell them for $5 and take your $16 back that you pay for them and still have $84 to donate! Lets do this!!!

When, where, how

We will meet at the Deer Creek Legion at 10:00 and be on the river by noon. I suggest that NO ONE FLOATS ON AN INFLATABLE RAFT OR TUBE. They all either popped or had to be pulled behind a canoe the first year. They also float alot slower and there is no way to paddle or control where you are going.

Contact information and equipment details

** Please contact Kim Williams with any questions on here or at 275-6408 or Lori Zimmerman

**Rent your canoe/kayak at Area 52 Mackinaw / Larry Morgan 309-208-1053 Contact him if you need to rent a canoe/kayak. There is a limited supply so reserve yours now! Canoes are $50 for 2 or 3 man and kayaks are $35. This rental fee includes the shuttle ride from legion to river and back to legion.

**Be at the Deer Creek Legion by 10:00 a.m. PLEASE DONT BE LATE!
**If you are using your own canoe/kayak you can drop it off where we put in either the night before or before you come to the Legion that morning. There will be trucks and trailers at the Legion that can haul them from the Legion to the river for you also. There will be vehicles there to take you to the river and we will have rides back to the Legion when we get off of the river. Please contact me ( Kim Williams ) about this for more info.
**We will be getting off the river at the canoe access outside of Deer Creek at 6pm
**There will be guys at the canoe access to help those of us with our own canoes to get them back to the Legion
***If it is raining, we will still float. If there are several storms in the area, we will postpone event to a later date.
***We will only float if the river is at a safe level
**Items you may want to bring-towel-sunglasses-coozie-cooler(duh)-sandwich/snacks-sunblock-camera–hat-rain poncho?-swim shoes-ziplock baggies or dry box
**We will have hamburgers ready for you all to eat at the Legion after the float provided by the Sons of the Legion and DJ Dan Hall will be there again playing us some great music!

Archived Event:   Many thanks to Univar Solutions for their outstanding efforts to raise awareness — and funds— for prostate cancer research and education!

Univar Solutions, a Downers Grove-based industry leader, championed the mission of Prostate Cancer Foundation of Chicago by hosting its sold-out Univar Inaugural Charity Golf Outing, on  June 27, 2019 at Lake Geneva, WI.

Univar Solutions is a leading global distributor of chemicals and ingredients.

According to David C. Jukes, Univar President and CEO:

Unfortunately prostate cancer is the second most commonly occurring cancer in men and the fourth most commonly occurring cancer overall. In America alone, this equates to about 1 man in 9 being diagnosed with prostate cancer during his lifetime.

Fortunate for us we have great organizations around the world dedicated to finding new and better prevention, detection and treatment options for this disease.  One such organization is the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Chicago, which is focused on improving the quality of care and the quality of life through patient support programs, clinical research and furthering education for this important topic.

PCFC is most grateful for the passion that Mr. Jukes and all of Univar continues to share in order to help men know their options for prostate cancer treatment informed by outcomes-based research, such as PCFC studies!
